What GAF Master Elite means
GAF is the largest roofing manufacturer in North America. Their Master Elite certification is the highest contractor tier they offer. Out of more than 100,000 roofing contractors in the country, only about 2% hold this designation.
To earn and maintain GAF Master Elite status, a contractor must meet strict requirements:
- Proper state licensing and adequate insurance coverage
- A proven reputation in the local market
- Commitment to ongoing professional training through GAF
- Financial stability and consistent business practices
- High customer satisfaction ratings verified by GAF
GAF reviews these qualifications annually. Contractors who fail to meet the standards lose their Master Elite status. DeHart Roofing, backed by the Econo Roofing family of companies, has maintained this certification through continuous investment in training and quality control.
GAF warranty tiers
One of the biggest advantages of hiring a GAF Master Elite contractor is access to warranty tiers that standard contractors cannot offer. GAF has three main warranty levels:
- System Plus warranty — Available through GAF Certified contractors. Covers materials for 50 years. Adds a 10-year workmanship coverage period backed by GAF. This is the entry-level enhanced warranty.
- Silver Pledge warranty — Available through Master Elite contractors. Covers materials for 50 years and workmanship for 10 years. Adds 100% coverage of the cost of labor during the workmanship period. Backed by GAF, not the contractor.
- Golden Pledge warranty — The strongest warranty GAF offers. Exclusive to Master Elite contractors. Covers materials for 50 years, workmanship for 25 years, and includes tear-off costs during the workmanship period. Fully backed by GAF as a Fortune 500 subsidiary of Standard Industries.
The key difference: standard roofers can only offer manufacturer material warranties. If the installation fails, you are on your own for labor. With a Golden Pledge warranty, GAF covers the cost to fix it for 25 years.
GAF products we install
As a Master Elite contractor, DeHart Roofing installs the full GAF product line. The most popular options for Central Valley homeowners include:
- Timberline HDZ — GAF's best-selling shingle in America. LayerLock technology for a 130 mph wind rating. Class A fire resistance. StainGuard Plus algae protection. Available in 20+ colors.
- Timberline UHDZ — The ultra-premium version with a dual shadow line for a deeper, more dimensional wood-shake look. Same LayerLock and wind performance as HDZ with a thicker profile.
- Timberline AS II — Engineered specifically for algae resistance in humid or warm climates. Ideal for Central Valley homes near irrigation canals or in areas with high humidity.
- Timberline CS — Canyon-style shingle with a bold profile that mimics hand-split wood shakes. Popular for ranch-style and craftsman homes.
- GAF Camelot — Designer shingle with an artisan-crafted slate appearance. Premium look without the weight or cost of natural slate.
Central Valley climate benefits
The Central Valley presents unique challenges for roofing materials: extreme summer heat exceeding 100 degrees, cool winters, and intense UV exposure year-round. GAF shingles are built for these conditions:
- LayerLock technology creates a mechanical bond between shingle layers that withstands thermal cycling from hot days and cool nights
- 130 mph wind rating handles the strong delta breezes and occasional windstorms that hit Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties
- Class A fire resistance provides the highest fire rating, critical during California wildfire season
- StainGuard Plus prevents black algae streaking caused by humidity from Central Valley agriculture and irrigation
- Advanced color technology resists fading from the intense UV exposure in Turlock, Modesto, and surrounding areas
