What CertainTeed SELECT means
CertainTeed is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, one of the world's largest building material companies. They run a tiered contractor program. SELECT ShingleMaster is the top residential tier.
To earn it, a contractor must meet five rules:
- MSA badge. Completion of CertainTeed's Master Shingle Applicator program.
- State licensing. Current and valid in California.
- Adequate insurance. Coverage verified by CertainTeed.
- Quality track record. Proven install history on file.
- Ongoing training. Active participation in CertainTeed education programs.

CertainTeed warranty tiers
Your warranty tier depends on your contractor's credential. CertainTeed has four levels:
- Standard warranty. Any installer can offer this. Materials only. No labor quality coverage.
- SureStart warranty. Credentialed contractors only. Full material coverage. Non-prorated for the first 10 years — CertainTeed pays 100% of defect claims.
- 4-Star warranty. ShingleMaster contractors only. 50-year materials, SureStart included. Adds 15 years of labor quality coverage backed by CertainTeed.
- 5-Star SureStart Plus warranty. SELECT ShingleMaster contractors only. Coverage stacks across three layers:
- Materials. 50 years of manufacturer coverage.
- SureStart non-prorated. 25 years of full-value coverage.
- Workmanship. 25 years, including tear-off if the roof fails.
Standard contractors offer materials only. With DeHart Roofing, you get 25 years of labor quality coverage. That protection comes from CertainTeed — not just your installer.
